George Donald Brackeen, 91, retired supervisor from animal control, went to be with our Lord Monday, October 21, 2019 in Newark.
 
Funeral is 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Haltom City with burial in Preskitt Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
 
The Reverends Marlon Mosley and Jesse West will officiate. Pallbearers will include David Brackeen, James Brackeen, Larry Brackeen, Johnny Brackeen, Allen Brackeen, Darrell Brackeen, and George Brackeen.
 
George was born on July 14, 1928 to Dewey and Lula Harriet (Sullins) Brackeen in LeRoy, Texas. He was united in marriage to Jeneva Bramlett on June 13, 1953 in Decatur. George proudly served our country in the United States Army; he later retired from the City of Fort Worth as supervisor over animal control. George was a member of the First Baptist Church in Haltom City, was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years, Jeneva Brackeen; his daughter, Peggy O’Gorman; and his sisters, Pauline Raley, and Margaret Raley.
 
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters, Marsha Tucker and husband Glenn of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Donna Sharp and husband Gary of Alvarado, and Carroll West and husband Jesse of Durant, Oklahoma; his sons, David Bracken of Paris, Larry Brackeen and wife Arlene of Saginaw, Allen Brackeen and Cathy of Azle, James Brackeen of Springtown, George Brackeen of Dallas, Johnny Brackeen and wife Katy of Newark, and Darrell Brackeen and wife Laura of Muenster; 25 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; and his sister, Roberta Kelley of Fort Worth; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
